2. Crawford transmitted the proceedings of the court-martial of Samuel Waldo Wetmore, who had been a cadet at West Point and was commissioned as a lieutenant of artillery in July 1814. Between 9 and 16 June 1816, he was tried by general court-martial in Detroit, Michigan Territory, on specifications relating to two charges and specifications of failing to suppress a mutiny and conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman (intoxication). He was acquitted of one specification but found guilty of the charges and sentenced to be dismissed the service. On the last page of the trial transcript, JM wrote: “June 12. 1816 The sentence of the Court is approved.
