Your letter of the 4th of November2 though a considerable time on the way has some time since been received and is the only one I find among my letters on the subject.
I request that either Mr Martin3 or yourself would as speedily as may be come on to this place and bring with you the returns of survey and Maps, which you mention to be ready. Expenditures will then be adjusted.

1. Ludlow was a New Jersey surveyor and land speculator. He also acted as an agent on the frontier for William Duer.
2. Letter not found.
3. Presumably Absalom Martin, who operated a ferry on the Ohio River at Wheeling, Virginia.
4. At the bottom of the letter “To Mr Israel Ludlow Fort Harmar” is written in an unidentified handwriting.
