To Thomas Jefferson from James Yard, 31 May 1791

From James Yard

St. Croix, 31 May 1791. Has presented his commission to be reported to Copenhagen as required, but it has not been passed, and he has not “urged any Decision whatever.” He believes he will be permitted to act without interruption. In the meantime he will collect information necessary to place “the Commerce of this Country in a clear. Point of View.”
