The Virginia House of Delegates overwhelmingly approved the resolution ratifying the Twelth Amendment to the United States Constitution by a vote of 128 to 8. In the senate, the resolution passed by a proportionately large margin, 17 to 1 (Journal of the House of Delegates of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Begun and Held at the Capitol, in the City of Richmond, on Monday the Fifth Day of December, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Three [Richmond, Va., 1804], 49; Richmond Virginia Argus, 4 Jan. 1804).
