Dear Sir
Doctor Park of this City is setting out with his daughter,1 on a trip Southwards and proposes to be in Washington before he returns. He is an old acquaintance in the family of Mrs. Madison, and is truly an amiable & respectable man. That he may present his respects with the greater facility I have asked him to accept a few lines making him known to you. With sentiments of respectful attachment I am Your mo. Obedt hble servt.

1. Quaker Thomas Parke (1749–1835) was a Philadelphia physician, who was variously the director of the Library Company, a member of the American Philosophical Society, and president of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. At his death he left his daughter Hannah a house and lot and the ground rents from several of the many properties he owned (Mattern and Shulman, Selected Letters of Dolley Payne Madison, 409; Frederick Watts and Henry J. Sergeant, Reports of Cases Adjudged in the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania [9 vols.; Philadelphia, 1853–55], 7:19–22).
