Annapolis, 27 Aug. 1791 . Acknowledging TJ’s of 22d, he is extremely sorry to say he is not at liberty to make any advance for the public buildings until 1 Jan. next, when he expects “the Funds will be productive.” He has so informed the commissioners. The Commissioners for the public buildings at George town inform the President that they are in want of a sum of money for the objects of their appointment, and that they suppose you will accept his draught for the first instalment of the money granted by the state of Maryland.
