On Saturday she recd. a Letter from you; from which it appears that you had recd. mine which contained certain Hints in the Propriety of which you agree in opinion with me.1 Whether it would be adviseable to make the Propositions alluded to in yours to Sally, is a question which deserves Consideration— It appears to me best that you should continue silent on the Subject for the present—and that such an overture should be delayed until circumstances shall make it expedient— We know not what will come to pass this month nor this Year— The most generous Propositions are sometimes misinterpreted— make them when the proper Season arrives—that is, when they shall have become clearly and evidently adviseable, and rendered so by Difficulties not to be removed otherwise—

The Marquis is indeed much to be pitied; and yet, he may have Reason to rejoice in the End for the Days wherein he has seen Adversity.
