Your Excellency will receive herewith our Act of Congress of the 8th instant, making further provision for the paying for horses killed in Battle and for reforming the Georgia Battallions &c.1
Your Excellency’s favour by Col. Magaw have this moment recievd2 & Shall call the Attention of Congress to the Subject to which it relates at thier Meeting in the morning, that a de⟨c⟩ision may be obtaind as Soon as possible.3 I have the Honour to be with the highest Respect Your Exys humbe Servt

1. GW published the resolution on pay for horses killed in action in the general orders of 19 January. The resolution on reforming the four Georgia regiments directed that only the officers necessary for two regiments be maintained in the service; the other officers were to become supernumeraries (DLC:GW; see also 16:26–27).
2. Huntington is referring to GW’s letter of 4 Jan. on the prospective opening of prisoner exchange negotiations.
