1GW published the resolution on pay for horses killed in action in the general orders of 19 January. The resolution on reforming the four Georgia regiments directed that only the officers necessary for two regiments be maintained in the service; the other officers were to become supernumeraries (DLC:GW; see also JCC, description begins Worthington Chauncey Ford et al., eds. Journals of the Continental Congress, 1774-1789. 34 vols. Washington, D.C., 1904–37. description ends 16:26–27).

2Huntington is referring to GW’s letter of 4 Jan. on the prospective opening of prisoner exchange negotiations.

3For the decision of Congress, see Huntington to GW, 27 Jan.; see also GW to Huntington, 19 January.
