Philadelphia, March 6, 1794. “Messrs. Le Roy & Bayard2 have directed me to pay to you for them the sum of 244 Dollars & 44 Cents. Inclosed is a check for that sum with a years interest.…”

1. Kean was cashier of the Bank of the United States.

2. Herman Le Roy and William Bayard were partners in a New York City mercantile firm.
