[New York, October 14, 1797.] Answers Cazenove’s letters of May 29 and July 5, 1797, concerning ownership of lands in New York State by aliens.2

2. The following entry appears in H’s Cash Book, 1795–1804, for October 13, 1797: “Le Roy & Bayard Dr for opinion given to Mr Cazenove as to the validity of mortgages on the lands of the Dutch Company if sold on Credit 15” (AD, Hamilton Papers, Library of Congress).
