[Hudson, New York, August 20, 1803. On September 11, 1803, Williams wrote to Hamilton: “I took the liberty of Stating a Case & inclosing it to you about the 20th of August for your opinion.” Letter not found.]

1A Federalist and a member of the New York bar, Williams practiced law in Spencertown, New York, from 1793 to 1800, when he moved to Hudson. He was a member of the New York Assembly from Columbia County in 1800 and 1801.
