Below H’s computation of the amount he owed to McComb, he wrote and McComb signed: “Received New York March 23. 1804 Received of Alexander Hamilton his note for the above Ballance payable on the first of June next which when paid will be in full of all demands.

John McComb Junr.”

In H’s Cash Book, 1795–1804, under the date of June 14, 1804, H wrote: “Grange (McCombe) 371.70” (AD, Hamilton Papers, Library of Congress).
