7. BF recorded in his accounts that the £40 was “to be employ’d in Feeing Council and other Expences on Smith’s Petition.” “Account of Expences,” p. 14; PMHB, LV (1931), 109. 8. In BF’s hand. Another receipt at Hist. Soc. Pa. shows that Partridge received £30 more on May 2, 1758, “on account of the charges relating to Wm. Smiths Appeal against the Pennsylvania Assembly.” This payment is recorded in the MS “Account of Expences,” p. 31, but was omitted from the printed version, PMHB, LV (1931), 97–133.
