2In a clerk’s hand. The endorsement, I.N., in the left-hand corner shows that BF submitted this document, as he did every other paper relating to his stock purchases for the province, to Speaker Norris.

3This was BF’s final purchase on the province’s behalf. Between December 1760 and August 1761 he had paid £26,977 19s. 8d. (including broker’s commissions and deductions for pre-payments) for stock whose face value was £30,000. See above, pp. 254, 313. BF recorded the present series of payments in his “Account of Expences,” p. 60; PMHB, LV (1931), 131.

4London Chron., number 707 (July 4–7, 1761), lists the price of “Scrip. 1761” at “88 a 87⅜.”

5BF recorded receiving this sum in “Account of Expences,” p. 61; PMHB, LV (1931), 131.
