Mon cher Docteur

7The merchant was Lalande Robinot, who had written Le Roy from St. Brieuc on June 6 to ask his intercession with BF. The matter dragged on for months. On July 18 or thereabouts Le Roy repeated his request. A few days later, probably on the 22nd, he enclosed a letter of the 18th from Baudouin de Guémadeuc, a master of requests, strongly recommending the merchant and mentioning that his ship was the Moissonneur. All these letters are in the APS. Le Roy soon returned to the charge, in an undated appeal that spoke of the many times he had already importuned BF for the letter: University of Pa. Library. By late August it had been promised but not yet furnished; the moment it arrived the ship would sail: Le Roy to BF below, under Aug. 26.
