Enclos’d I send you a Copy of Some Resolutions of Congress that I have lately receiv’d.5 I request to know whether you purpose to undertake the Business; and if so, when you think you may be at Leisure to enter upon it. I have the Honour to be, with great Esteem, Sir &c.

5. BF certainly sent a copy of the Sept. 29 congressional resolution reporting Johnson’s election to audit the accounts “of the several commissioners, commercial agents and others in Europe, entrusted with the public money of the United States” (JCC, XIV, 928–9; XV, 1126); he also sent a copy to Ralph Izard and Arthur Lee (Feb. 19, above) and retained two copies (APS). He may also have sent Johnson a Sept. 28 resolution listing the names of the other two people nominated for the post and those who nominated the candidates (JCC, XV, 1114–15).
