§ From DeWitt Clinton. 7 June 1806, New York. “I received your letter1 yesterday and having full confidence in the integrity & prudence of Mr. Mark I delivered the dispatches to him with particular directions & without apprising him of their nature. I have taken his receipt for them. He sails to morrow.”
