From John Adams to James Jervey, 13 May 1813
Quincy May 13 1813
Gentlemen
I received yesterday the letter with which you honoured me on the 26 April inclosing Mr Elliots Oration on the inauguration of the Federal constitution. I thank you gentlemen for your polite attentions
The brilliant prospects of your orator into futurity have almost excited a wish for a prolongation of Life, in your most humble Servant
John Adams.
