2JW sent a one-page statement (University of Pa. Library) minimizing the seriousness of the uprising of the Pennsylvania line. It was based on information brought by a French lugger (undoubtedly the Aimable Elizabeth) that had left Philadelphia in company with the Duke of Leinster on Feb. 6 and had arrived in Lorient on Feb. 28.
