Yesterday afternoon Colo. Hamilton was desired, as soon as the Tariff was ready, to let it be known.—Enclosed is his answer.—Say whether the meeting shall be tomorrow, or on Monday morning?—Yours sincerely,

The subject of this letter is discussed in note to TJ to Washington, 26 Nov. 1791. Hamilton’s proposed tariff is printed in , xiii, 409–10, from an undated manuscript in DLC: Hamilton Papers. His answer to Washington has not been found.
