May 6th: the Prince William Detachment consistg of ⟨8⟩ Officers and 121 private Men arriv’d here and abt an hour or two after them came Colo. Ewel.1

1Ewel was probably Bertrand Ewell (1715–1795) of Prince William County, vestryman of Dettingen Parish, justice of the peace, and county surveyor.
