1. No reply to this invitation has been found, nor is there a record of the dinner in GW’s diary, since he did not resume making entries until 24 June. Social relations between the Washingtons and the Adamses at this time were extremely cordial. Abigail Adams wrote to her sister on 13 June that “I last week accompanied Mrs. Washington to the Jersies to visit the falls of Pasaick.
