Hartford, August 23, 1800. Requests Hamilton’s advice on the procedure which the executors of Nathanael Greene’s estate should follow in selling lands in New York.

Wadsworth, a Connecticut Federalist, was deputy commissary general and commissary general of purchases during the American Revolution. From 1789 to 1795 he served in the House of Representatives. In 1800 he was a member of the executive council of Connecticut. Wadsworth and Edward Rutledge, the former governor of South Carolina who had died in January, 1800, were the executors of Nathanael Greene’s estate.
