Ralph Izard was among the officers who served on board the Intrepid during its mission to destroy the frigate Philadelphia. He arrived in Norfolk on 14 Feb., bearing Commodore Edward Preble’s account of the navy’s actions against Tripoli (NDBW description begins Dudley W.
