I have the honor to request your signature to the enclosed Warrants—

The persons for whom they are intended have been recommended by Capt. Murray—those stations being vacant on board the Constellation.

On 16 Jan. 1802, Smith wrote Captain Alexander Murray of the frigate Constellation, enclosing warrants for William Johnson, gunner; John Hall, boatswain; and William Godby, carpenter (FC in Lb in DNA: RG 45, LSO; NDBW description begins Dudley W.
