7. Possibly John D. Coxe (1752–1824), Tench Coxe’s nephew, who went to England in 1773 to study law. It is plausible that the letter mentioned here went on its way via Joseph P. Whitall (XXVII, 322n), a Philadelphian and commercial agent in France, who wrote an undated note to WTF saying that en route to Holland he expected to see Coxe, and would deliver the letter. APS.
