Shadwell Mill 12th March 1816

Dear Sir

Inclosed you will receive a statement of all the Flour deliver’d to you, by comparing it with the accounts furnish’d you, we believe you will find it correct—

The mistake made with respect to 67 barrels sent down in May last, and which are still in Messrs Warwicks Lumber house, shall be arranged to your satisfaction so soon as either of us go to Richmond which will be in few days—We are with great respect

Randolph & Company), [ca. 12 Mar. 1816], on verso (see note at enclosure printed below); endorsed by TJ as a letter from Thomas Eston Randolph received 12 Mar. 1816 and so recorded in SJL.

Thomas M. Randolph & Company was formed when Thomas Eston Randolph and Thomas Mann Randolph became joint tenants at the Shadwell mills in 1814. Two years later Thomas Eston Randolph became sole tenant (MB description begins James A. Bear Jr. and Lucia C. Stanton, eds., Jefferson’s Memorandum Books: Accounts, with Legal Records and Miscellany, 1767–1826, 1997, The Papers of Thomas Jefferson, Second Series description ends , 2:1273, 1310; TJ’s Agreement with Thomas Eston Randolph & Company, 19 Sept. 1816, with Note by TJ, 18 Oct. 1816).
