By Mr Johnson’s Boat I send you a Tierce Rice from Col Allston of Charleston & a Box Books (I presume) from Philadelphia, all in good order & hope they will so reach you.
I have felt great sympathy & concern for the unfortunate accident which has befallen my good friend Jefferson Randolph and sincerely hope he is on the recovery— In haste

A missing letter from Craven Peyton to TJ of 14 Feb. 1819 also expressing concern for Thomas Jefferson Randolph is recorded in SJL as received from Monteagle the day it was written (address cover only in DLC; with PoC of TJ to Patrick Gibson, 11 Feb. 1820, on verso; addressed: “Thomas Jefferson esq Monticello”; note by Craven Peyton on verso: “N. B please say by the boy how m. R. is”).
