Letter not found. 9 October 1804. Described in Daniel Brent to Muhlenberg, 12 Oct. 1804 (DNA: RG 59, DL, vol. 14), as giving information that Richard Saunders of Philadelphia and another U.S. seaman had been impressed “by the British Ship La Française, Capt. Murry.” Brent stated that he had been directed to ask for proof of Saunders’s citizenship.
