From Daniel McLane

Augusta [Ga.], 12 Nov. 1790. On the strength of his long and faithful service in the army, applies for one of the two federal offices in the state made vacant by the deaths of their incumbents.

Daniel McLane, probably of Augusta, Ga., may have been the private of the same name (b. 1752) who served with the South Carolina militia during the Revolutionary War (D.A.R. Patriot Index, description begins D.A.R. Patriot Index. Centennial Edition. 3 vols. Washington, D.C., 1990. description ends 2:1977). The vacancies he mentioned have not been identified.
