§ To the Senate. 23 December 1815. “I nominate Joseph S. Morrison to be Collector of Direct taxes and Internal duties for the fourteenth collection district of Pennsylvania, in the room of David Reiley.”

RC (DNA: RG 46, Executive Proceedings, Nominations, 14B–A1). 1 p.; in a clerk’s hand, dated and signed by JM. The Senate approved the nomination on 26 Dec. 1815 (Senate Exec. Proceedings, description begins Journal of the Executive Proceedings of the Senate of the United States of America (3 vols.; Washington, 1828). description ends 3:14).
