1JM’s entry reads “Monday & Tuesday June 2 & 3. see Journals.” There is correspondence of JM dating on 2 June. For this reason the present editors have divided his entry between the two days.

The journal of Congress for 2 June principally records two actions: (1) agreement upon the form of commission to be issued to Oliver Pollock “as commercial agent of the United States at the Havannah” (Delegates to Gálvez, 4 May 1783, n. 3; JCC description begins Worthington Chauncey Ford et al., eds., Journals of the Continental Congress, 1774–1789 (34 vols.; Washington, 1904–37). description ends , XXIV, 376–77); and (2) the adoption of a resolution instructing Robert Morris, agent of marine, upon the procedure he should follow “whensover complaints are exhibited of public abuses or private injuries committed by the captains or commanders of any privateers or armed vessels sailing under the authority of the United States” (JCC description begins Worthington Chauncey Ford et al., eds., Journals of the Continental Congress, 1774–1789 (34 vols.; Washington, 1904–37). description ends , XXIV, 377–78).
