§ From William Jones. 30 November 1814, Navy Department. “The promotions and appointments designated on the enclosed paper are required for the naval service of the United States.”

RC 1 p.; draft of JM to John Rodgers, 4 Dec. 1814, is on the verso. The enclosure (3 pp.; printed in Senate Exec. Proceedings, description begins Journal of the Executive Proceedings of the Senate of the United States of America (3 vols.; Washington, 1828). description ends 2:587–88), which JM signed and forwarded to the Senate on 30 Nov. 1814, listed fifty-six promotions to the rank of lieutenant and the appointments of thirty-four surgeon’s mates.
