I do hereby give you notice that on the sixth Day of November instant you was, by the Senate and Assembly of this State, appointed one of the Electors in this State, for the Election of a President and Vice-President of the United States of America.—1
The Bearer of this Letter is an Express employed for the purpose of delivering it to you; and that I may be ascertained of his having done so, be pleased to give him a Receipt for it—2

Pierre Van Cortlandt Jr. (1762–1848) of Croton, studied law under AH, served in the state assembly (1811 and 1812), and was elected as a Republican to Congress (1811–13).
