A description of this letter, purported to be an ALS , in Sotheby’s catalog no. 6339, item no. 274, reads in part: “New Windsor, 16 February 1781, to Jabez Huntington, Sheriff of the County of Windham, Connecticut, authorizing him to discharge Andrew Sutton, a prisoner in the Hartford County jail.”
