The Secretary of the Treasury presents his Compliments to The Secretary of State and requests that he will be pleased to cause the Patent for 214.285 acres when sealed & recorded to be delivered to the bearer The Rev Mr Cutler.2

2Manasseh Cutler, a director of the Ohio Company, at this time was in Philadelphia attending a three-day meeting of the board of directors of the company. He received the patent on the day this letter was written (D, Register of Acts of the Federal Congress and Communications Received by the Department of State, 1790–1795, Papers of the Continental Congress, National Archives).
