New York, January 23, 1786. Receipt for a deed to a tract of land in George Croghan’s Otsego Patent.2

1Cooper, who later founded Cooperstown, New York, was the father of James Fenimore Cooper, the novelist. Cooper and Craig were residents of Burlington, New Jersey, and both were land speculators.
