To Samuel Hodgdon

[Philadelphia, September 25, 1794]

Mr. Hamilton requests Mr. Hodgsdon to be so obliging as to inform him whether he has in his power or eye any horse which would be proper as a riding horse for Mr. Hamilton—easy gated of some blood & capable of rendering service. Mr. Hamilton would mean to purchase him.
