From Alexander Hamilton to William Tilghman, 10 March 1797

New York, March 10, 1797. “… You will oblige me by letting me know what have been the laws & practice of Maryland with regard to naturalization—pointing me to the parts of its Constitution & laws which respect the subject. I have under consideration an important question of Insurance2 in which this inquiry is necessary.”
