I receiv’d your Favour of the 26th.4 which I shall answer at large per next Post. In the mean time please to send me, if you have it with you, my Paper of Observations on Baxter’s Book, which I want to make some present Use of, and have no other Copy.5
Mesnard sail’d this Day for London. But here is a Vessel bound to Bristol, which the next Post will reach. In haste I am, Sir Your oblig’d humble Servant

P S. Upon farther Enquiry I find that next Post will not reach the Bristol Vessel, she being to sail on Saturday.6

6. On the reverse is a memorandum in Colden’s hand: “The Expence of One ps[?] of Service in the plan concerted by the Council amounting to £2000 is proposed to be entirely born by this Province. And that the remaining £12000 of the £14000 be at the joint expence of this Govt. Massachusetts Bay and Connecticut.” This seems to refer to an attack on Crown Point by New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut forces, discussed in the New York Council in July–August, 1747.
