[Note numbering follows the Franklin Papers source.]

8Blagden had paid his final visit to BF on July 25. He was received in the “inner cabinet” where a “Great cover [was] laid out,” and the two men discussed the Montgolfiers’ “flying sack.” BF told Blagden that he would send a letter to England by him. That letter, enclosed with the present note, was undoubtedly BF to Banks, July 27; see also the headnote there. Blagden left Paris on Aug. 1: Charles Blagden’s Journal, 1783 (Yale University Library).
