9. For Falconer, a ship captain who frequently sailed between Philadelphia and London, see above, p. 100 n. The present note is puzzling because Falconer was in Jamaica on April 5, 1765, and there is no record of his commanding a ship from there to Philadelphia and then on to London. His note, “27 Days from the Capes to Day,” must mean, then, that he sailed to Philadelphia and thence to London with some other captain, unless “Capes” are taken to mean some point other than the Capes of the Delaware, in which case the editors are at a loss to explain their location.
