Department of State, 13 May 1826.

Dear Sir,

I received your letter of the 10th. Instant,1 transmitting those of Messrs. D’Espenville2 and Hersant respecting the box of seeds for the use of the Agricultural Society of Virginia. Although I do not myself perceive that I have any right to direct the disposal of it, I shall comply with your suggestion, in requesting Messrs. Mackay and Campbell to forward it to the University of Virginia. With my best respects to Mrs. Madison, I am truly your obedt. servt.
