MS (DNA: RG 59, LAR); in Breckinridge’s hand, signed by Breckinridge and Brown; endorsed by TJ as received 3 May and “Commrs. bkrptcy” and so recorded in SJL.

On 12 June, TJ appointed the six men recommended by the Kentucky senators as bankruptcy commissioners for the state (National Intelligencer, 11 June 1802; Appendix I; Appendix II, List 2).
