Sir,
I have the Honer of informing you that two Setts of Exchange four Bills to each Sett for 900 Livres Tournois each No 1 in Faver of Nicholas Fouquet and No 2 in Faver of Mark Fouquet payable at thirty Days Sight have been this Day drawn upon you pursuant to the enclosed Act of Congress of the 12th. Instant;7 and I am directed by the Board of Treasury to request that you will honer them as soon as Circumstances will permit.

7. The enclosure is also at the Hist. Soc. of Pa. This resolution (JCC, XV, 1165) states that Nicolas and Marc Fouquet had been employed in the service of the United States for two years supervising the manufacture of gunpowder and saltpetre and had recommended themselves to the favorable opinion of Congress. It directed that bills of exchange for 900 l.t. be delivered to them in addition to the sum mentioned in their contract with the Board of War and Ordnance. The latter sum was 6,000 l.t. due to Nicolas Fouquet (JCC, XV, 1154). BF noted on the enclosure that N. Fouquet was owed 6,000 l.t., and that M. Fouquet was owed 900 l.t.
