Wednesday May 14. 1783.

As there are Several Things which require the Deliberation of the American Ministers,6 Mr Adams has the Honour to propose to Dr Franklin a Meeting at the Hotel du Roi Tomorrow at Eleven, if that time and Place are convenient to his Excellency. Mr A. will give notice to the other Gentlemen.

6One of the items on the agenda probably was Lafayette’s May 12 letter to the peace commissioners, above, which Laurens acknowledged on May 13. He told Lafayette that the commissioners would consider the matter as soon as JA scheduled a meeting: Idzerda, Lafayette Papers, V, 132n.
