In December 1788 Washington agreed to give to Henry (Light-Horse Harry) Lee the noted Arabian horse Magnolio in exchange for two tracts of land totaling 5,000 acres on Rough Creek in Kentucky. Washington’s friend Alexander Spotswood gave up his conflicting claim to the land in 1796.
