sheravaloes: sherryvallies, or overalls, were breeches of thick velvet or leather, buttoned on the outside of each leg and typically worn over knee breeches (OED description begins J. A. Simpson and E. S. C. Weiner, eds., The Oxford English Dictionary, Oxford, 1989, 20 vols. description ends ; Linda R. Baumgarten, “Jefferson’s Clothing,” Magazine Antiques, 144 [1993], 104).

On 6 July 1803, TJ ordered John Barnes to pay the balance on Carpenter’s account for $332.50 “after taking credit for such part thereof as he has already paid” (MS in ViU; in TJ’s hand and signed by him; at foot of text: “Mr. John Barnes”; with receipt in Barnes’s hand acknowledging whole amount for $332.50, with payment on 12 May for $50 and on 10 June for $150 ⅌ note, for a balance due of $132.50, also noting 60 days at 6 July with receipt of payment on that date; signed by Carpenter; endorsed by Barnes on verso).
