Dr Sr

As the Election for Governor & Lieut Govr. draws near I would be glad to know how Matters Respecting this stand below, & whom the lower Counties will be disposed to chuse.

Your Name is mentioned here and so is Genl Schuilers— As I am disposed to render you all the Service I can on this Occasion, please to favour me with a few Lines on the Subject and who is held up at Esopus for Lieut. Govr. that we may know how to conduct ourselves here.2 on this occasion Your Answer by the Bearer will oblidge in great Haste your most Hum. Servt.

1Peter W. Yates (1747–1826), lawyer, member of the Albany City Council until its dissolution in March 1776, of the Committee of Correspondence for Albany for part of 1775, and of the Albany militia. After the Revolution, he was a member of the state assembly and, in 1786, the Continental Congress, where he was an Antifederalist.
